Speaking of open-source hardware, the most indicative device is Arduino. The name comes from a bar in Ivrea of Italy, where some of the founders of Arduino used to meet. Arduino is a microcontroller which is designed to easily integrate a variety of sensors, and for the unfamiliar programmer and newcomers to develop the software. The first Arduino was introduced in 2005 by Massimo Banzi and Casey Reas. Initially, they just want to create a low cost, microcontroller for students in Interaction Design Institute. The main types of Arduino such like Arduino Uno, Arduino Mega, Arduino Nano, Arduino Duemilanove. Also many other extensions, shields, and sensors.
